TD Bank Group collaborates with ApplyBoard to enhance international student services

TD Bank Group and ApplyBoard have joined forces to assist international students from select countries in meeting eligibility requirements for Canadian study permits under the Student Direct Stream (SDS) program. ApplyBoard's document verification tool helps ensure compliance with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) standards.

To enhance Canada's immigration system, TD and ApplyBoard have collaborated to simplify services for international students seeking to begin their Canadian journey smoothly. The collaboration aims to streamline the process for international students applying for study permits under the SDS program, which requires demonstrating sufficient funds equivalent to those specified by IRCC.

The SDS program expedites study permit applications for students from eligible countries, with decisions often made within two weeks by IRCC. To meet IRCC's financial requirements, applicants must have sufficient funds in an International Student Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC). As of January 1st, 2024, IRCC has raised the required amount to $20,635 CAD for 2024.

Through the TD International Student GIC program, newcomers can acquire GICs with no application fees, which start accruing interest even before their arrival in Canada. By utilizing ApplyBoard's verification platform, ApplyProof, applicants can strengthen their study permit applications by ensuring accurate and verified documentation.

ApplyProof facilitates the verification of original supporting documents for student admissions and immigration applications, aiming to streamline the process and reduce wait times. As study permit decisions are at the discretion of reviewing officers, providing and verifying correct documents is crucial for successful applications.

Apart from assisting with study permit applications, TD offers various services tailored to the needs of international students. The TD International Student GIC program provides a TD Student Chequing account with no monthly plan fees (until 23 years old or with proof of enrollment in full-time post-secondary education), unlimited transactions, and more.

Additionally, international students can opt for the International Student Banking Package, which offers up to $850 CAD in value, including a $50 Amazon.ca gift card when bundling TD Student Chequing Account, TD Rewards Visa Card, and eligible Savings Account. TD also provides credit cards without prior credit history, accessible banking with longer branch hours, and support for day-to-day expenses and long-term financial planning.

With over a century of experience in delivering financial solutions to Canadians, TD aims to assist newcomers in navigating the Canadian banking system. The bank offers online support and resources on topics such as banking basics, credit score essentials, and more, catering to the diverse needs of newcomers.

ApplyBoard, established in 2015, has helped over 800,000 students from 150 countries in their education journey, becoming a trusted authority in the international education space. Through their collaboration, TD and ApplyBoard strive to support international students and simplify the study permit application process, contributing to Canada's diverse and inclusive education landscape.
