PEI invited 168 workers from key industries in its April 17 draw.
Prince Edward Island (PEI) held its fourth immigration draw of the year on April 17, 2025. The province invited 168 people who live and work in PEI to apply for permanent residency. These candidates either work in key industries or recently graduated from local colleges and universities.
PEI used two pathways to issue these invitations: the Labour Impact Category and the PEI Express Entry stream. The draw mainly focused on people already living in PEI and working in healthcare, trades, and manufacturing. The province also gave priority to graduates from the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College, and Collège de l’Île.
People who received invitations have already shown a strong connection to the province. They’ve lived and worked in PEI for at least one year. These individuals support important sectors that help the province’s economy grow.
PEI’s Labour Impact Category has three pathways:
To apply under any of these, you must:
Each stream under this category has extra rules, depending on your job and background.
If you apply through PEI’s Express Entry stream, you must first have an active Express Entry profile. This profile must be valid and make you eligible for at least one federal program:
Your profile also needs to stay updated while you apply through PEI’s system.
If you hold a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) from studies outside PEI or a spousal open work permit linked to a non-PEI school, you need to meet two more conditions:
You or your representative can submit your profile to PEI’s EOI system to be considered. Each profile is valid for only six months, and you can only have one active profile at a time.
So far in 2025, PEI has invited a total of 401 candidates through its immigration program. All selected individuals have come from the Labour Impact or PEI Express Entry categories.
PEI continues to focus on attracting workers who are already part of the community and contributing to its growth.
