According to Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration (MIFI), individuals aspiring to secure permanent residence under the Self-Employed Worker Program must be at least 18 years old and satisfy additional eligibility criteria.
Prospective candidates located in Montreal must deposit a startup sum of $50,000 or more with a local financial institution, while those situated outside Montreal are required to deposit a minimum of $25,000.
All applicants must achieve a passing score on Quebec’s Economic Class selection grid specific to the Self-Employed Program. Points are allocated based on various factors including education level, professional experience, language proficiency in French and English, ties to Quebec, age, financial autonomy, deposit amount, and financial resources.
Additionally, applicants must demonstrate a genuine intent to reside in Quebec. Depending on their profession’s regulatory requirements, candidates may need training or a diploma recognized by the relevant Quebec regulatory body obtained within the five years preceding their application.
