Ontario, BC, Alberta, and Quebec Release New Immigration Nominations

Ontario, BC, Alberta, and Quebec Select New Immigration Candidates.

Four Canadian provinces – Ontario, British Columbia (B.C.), Quebec, and Alberta – have recently invited candidates to apply for immigration through their respective provincial programs.

Except for Nunavut and Quebec, all Canadian provinces and territories use a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to select skilled economic immigrants. These programs aim to address local labour market needs and demographic challenges. Quebec has a unique agreement with the federal government, giving it control over its economic immigration programs.

Ontario

On July 25, Ontario issued 209 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) through the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream of its Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

This draw specifically targeted general practitioners and family physicians (National Occupation Classification (NOC) 31102) who met the following criteria:

  • Created an Express Entry profile between July 25, 2023, and July 25, 2024
  • Had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 395 and 444

British Columbia

B.C. conducted two British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) draws on July 23. In the first, a general draw, B.C. issued 35 invitations to candidates from five streams:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Skilled Worker – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option
  • International Graduate
  • International Graduate – EEBC option
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled

Eligible candidates from all streams except "Entry Level and Semi-Skilled" needed a minimum score of 134 to receive an invitation, while Entry Level and Semi-Skilled candidates needed a minimum score of 110.

The second draw targeted specific occupations, issuing 73 invitations across four categories:

  • 37 invitations to childcare candidates with a minimum score of 91
  • 17 invitations to construction candidates with a minimum score of 92
  • 19 invitations to healthcare candidates with a minimum score of 104
  • Fewer than five invitations to veterinary care candidates with a minimum score of 80

Quebec

Quebec released the results of a draw conducted on June 27, 2024.

During this draw, Quebec invited 1,528 candidates to apply for permanent selection, provided they met the following criteria:

  • Oral proficiency in French at level 7 or higher according to Québec's French proficiency scale for adult immigrants (Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français) or its equivalent
  • A score of 581 points or higher
  • A valid job offer outside the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal

Candidates who received invitations can now apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate.

Alberta

Alberta released results from a draw held on July 2. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued 37 Notification of Interest (NOI) letters to candidates in the "dedicated healthcare pathway with Alberta job offer" category. All invited candidates had a minimum CRS score of 301.

These provincial draws highlight the ongoing efforts across Canada to address labour market needs and demographic challenges through strategic immigration programs.
