Institues Overview

North Island College (NIC) is a publicly funded community college serving residents on Vancouver Island and the central BC Coast. With a focus on access and a commitment to student success, NIC is nationally and internationally recognized for its technology-enabled distance learning and incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and being into teaching and learning.

Along with its four main campuses in Campbell River, the Comox Valley, Port Alberni and Port Hardy, NIC serves the region though a learning centre in Ucluelet, unique lab spaces at the former St. Joseph’s hospital in Comox and through in-community delivered programming, tailored to meet the training and educational needs of the community.

NIC’s strong partnership agreements with universities and colleges across BC, Canada, the US and around the world, give its students access to the best in education in Canada and abroad through transfer agreements, exchanges, short and long-term study abroad opportunities and field schools.

NIC proudly serves more than 8,000 domestic and international students annually with more than 1,000 courses and 80 credit programs including university transfer and academic upgrading, health, human services, fine art and design, tourism and hospitality, trades and technical, business and office administration and Indigenous studies.
