British Columbia and Manitoba Hold New PNP Draws

This week, British Columbia and Manitoba took significant steps in their immigration processes by holding new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, aimed at inviting skilled individuals to fill various roles in their local economies. Here’s a closer look at the latest developments:

British Columbia’s Focused Draw

In British Columbia, the provincial government held a specialized draw through its Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). A total of 147 candidates received invitations, specifically through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate (including Express Entry British Columbia) streams. The focus of this draw was to address labour market needs by selecting candidates based on their skills and educational background.

Different industries had varying requirements, leading to a range of minimum scores needed for invitations:

• Childcare workers required a minimum score of 89, with 33 invitations issued.
• Construction workers needed a minimum score of 90, resulting in 27 invitations.
• Healthcare workers had a cut-off score of 101, with 22 invitations sent out.
• Tech workers required a minimum score of 120, and 64 invitations were extended.
• Veterinary care workers needed a minimum score of 80, with at least one invite issued.

The Skilled Worker category is designed for individuals with relevant post-secondary education or training and experience in skilled occupations. Candidates must have a full-time, permanent job offer from a B.C. employer, and if the job is in a regulated field, they must meet the provincial certification requirements.

Manitoba’s Dual Draws

Manitoba conducted two significant draws under its Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) this week. The first draw targeted skilled workers in specific occupations. It resulted in 145 invitations for individuals working in-home support, caregiving, and related healthcare roles. This selection was aimed at filling urgent needs in these fields.

On the same day, Manitoba also held a draw under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. This draw issued 58 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 724. To qualify, candidates had to be part of a “Strategic Recruitment Initiative,” which helps attract individuals with skills that are in demand across Manitoba.

In total, the MPNP issued 203 invitations this week, with 29 of these going to individuals who had valid Express Entry profiles. This reflects Manitoba’s ongoing effort to integrate skilled workers into its local economy efficiently.
