Ontario’s latest Express Entry draw has issued 1,269 invitations for permanent residency.
On September 12, 2024, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 1,269 invitations for provincial nominations through its Express Entry draw under the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream. This draw focused on candidates who have shown an intention to settle in Ontario and possess work experience in one of 43 specified healthcare professions.
The OINP targeted Express Entry candidates whose profiles were created between September 12, 2023, and September 12, 2024. To be eligible for this draw, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score ranging from 414 to 444. Those meeting these criteria were invited to apply for provincial nomination.
The full list of targeted occupations included a wide range of healthcare-related roles such as managers in healthcare, specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine, general practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, and many others. This list also encompassed positions like nursing coordinators, medical laboratory technologists, and various types of therapists.
For those invited, the next step is to respond to the provincial nomination invitation within 45 days. If OINP grants a provincial nomination, it adds 600 points to the candidate's CRS score, which can significantly boost their overall score to between 1,014 and 1,044.
In 2024, the OINP has already issued a total of 11,307 notifications of interest across seven rounds of HCP draws. The range of CRS scores for invited candidates varied depending on the specific draw and targeted occupations. For example, candidates in some draws with CRS scores as low as 352 were invited, provided they met all eligibility requirements.
The OINP draw on September 12 was particularly aimed at healthcare professionals, reflecting Ontario's ongoing efforts to address the healthcare sector's needs by attracting skilled workers. The detailed list of targeted professions highlights the program's focus on a broad array of roles crucial to the healthcare system.
To qualify for the OINP Express Entry draws, candidates must have a valid Express Entry profile and express their intention to immigrate to Ontario. There is no need to create a separate application for OINP, as the program reviews Express Entry profiles directly and sends notifications of interest to eligible candidates.
However, meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee an invitation, nor does receiving a notification of interest guarantee that an application will be approved. Applicants are advised to carefully review the program’s criteria and ensure they meet all requirements before responding to any notification of interest.
