Ontario OINP Issues 1,443 PR Invitations in Two Draws on Sept 17

Ontario’s OINP issued 1,443 invitations for permanent residency in two new draws on September 17.

On September 17, 2024, Ontario conducted two significant draws through its Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), inviting a total of 1,443 candidates to apply for permanent residency (PR) in Canada. This marks a noteworthy development for individuals looking to make Canada their home.

In the general draw for the Masters Graduate Stream, 1,249 invitations were issued. To qualify for this draw, candidates needed to have an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 53. This is a slight decrease of just one point from the previous draw held on July 9, 2024, which had an EOI cutoff of 54. The Master's Graduate Stream is a popular choice for international students who have completed a master’s degree in Ontario and wish to apply for PR without needing a job offer or Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

The second draw of the day focused on the PhD Graduate Stream. In this draw, 110 invitations were sent out to candidates with an EOI score of 45 or above. This represents a significant drop of 5 points from the previous PhD graduate stream draw on July 9, 2024, which had a cutoff score of 50. The PhD Graduate Stream is designed for individuals who have completed a PhD program in Ontario, providing another pathway to permanent residency.

For 2024, the OINP has issued a total of 20,296 invitations for PR across various streams. This includes 8,363 invitations for the International Student Stream, 5,519 for the Masters Graduate Stream, and 533 for the PhD Graduate Stream. These numbers reflect a considerable increase in invitations compared to 2023, showcasing the program's commitment to attracting skilled and educated individuals.

The OINP’s draws are crucial for international students and graduates in Ontario as they provide a pathway to permanent residency without the need for a job offer or other employment-related prerequisites. This allows individuals to focus on their studies and professional growth, potentially enhancing their chances of securing a PR status in Canada.

The OINP Masters Graduate Stream has seen several draws throughout the year. On January 24, 2024, 1,344 invitations were issued with a minimum EOI score of 50, and on March 19, 2024, 1,370 invitations were sent to candidates with scores of 52 or above. The most recent draw on September 17, 2024, continued the trend of high invitation numbers but with a slightly lower cutoff score, making it more accessible for applicants.

Similarly, the PhD Graduate Stream has also seen multiple draws in 2024. The January 24 draw issued 125 invitations with a cutoff score of 45, while the March 19 draw had 104 invitations with a score of 42. The most recent draw on September 17, 2024, continued this trend but with an even lower cutoff, increasing opportunities for PhD graduates.

The recent OINP draws have provided substantial opportunities for those seeking permanent residency in Ontario, with lower EOI score cutoffs in some streams making it a more accessible pathway for international graduates.
