BC, Quebec, and PEI invite new candidates in latest provincial immigration draws

British Columbia, Quebec, and Prince Edward Island have recently invited new applicants in their latest provincial immigration draws.

In the past week, British Columbia (B.C.), Quebec, and Prince Edward Island (PEI) have sent out new invitations for their provincial immigration programs. These invitations are part of the province's efforts to attract skilled workers and help address local labour market needs.

British Columbia

On August 20, British Columbia extended invitations to 156 candidates through its Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). The province held four separate draws for various categories of candidates.

The largest draw was open to all occupations, inviting 83 candidates from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled streams. Candidates needed a score of 130, while those in the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled streams required a score of 110.

In addition to the general draw, B.C. conducted three occupation-specific draws:

  • Childcare Occupations: 38 invitations with a minimum score of 85.
  • Construction Occupations: 20 invitations with a minimum score of 89.
  • Healthcare Occupations: 15 invitations with a minimum score of 99.

Quebec

Quebec also issued invitations recently, with the Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration (MIFI) releasing results from an August 8 draw. This draw invited 1,415 candidates to apply for permanent selection under the Regular Skilled Worker Program.

Candidates needed a score of 576 points and must have achieved level 7 oral proficiency in French, as per the Québec scale for adult immigrants or its equivalent.

Prince Edward Island

PEI conducted its first draw in over a month on August 22, inviting 57 candidates through the Labour and Express Entry stream of the PEI PNP. To be eligible, candidates had to be working in PEI's healthcare and construction sectors. The province also considered those with work permits expiring in 2024 in traditional sectors like tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and trucking.
