British Columbia and PEI recently invited applicants in their latest PNP draws.
British Columbia and Prince Edward Island (PEI) recently invited candidates to apply for permanent residency through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Both provinces aim to boost their local economies by attracting skilled workers and entrepreneurs.
British Columbia PNP Draw
On March 18, British Columbia held a PNP draw under its Entrepreneur Immigration category. The province targeted foreign business owners who have either started a new business or purchased an existing one. The draw issued a total of eight invitations under the Base Stream. To qualify, candidates needed a minimum score of 115, which was based on factors like work experience, education, and business concepts.
In the Regional Stream, fewer than five entrepreneurs received invitations. Participating communities referred these candidates. To be eligible, they needed a higher minimum score of 123. This stream focuses on attracting business owners to smaller, less populated areas of the province.
Prince Edward Island PNP Draw
On March 20, PEI conducted its third draw of the year through two streams: Labour Impact and Express Entry. The province issued 124 invitations to candidates already living and working in PEI. The focus was on individuals employed in sectors that are key to the province’s economic growth.
The priority sectors for this draw included:
PEI’s draw mainly targeted people who have been living and working in the province for at least a year. This approach supports the local workforce and addresses labor shortages in essential industries.
Why These Draws Matter
Both provinces are using their PNP programs to fill labor gaps and strengthen their economies. British Columbia is encouraging entrepreneurial investment, especially in smaller regions. Meanwhile, PEI is prioritizing candidates who are already contributing to its workforce.
These draws reflect Canada’s ongoing strategy to bring in skilled workers and entrepreneurs to help support local economies. For candidates aiming for permanent residency, receiving an invitation through these PNP draws is a key step toward making Canada their home.
