Canada Extends Permanent Citizenship Invitations to Foreigners

Canada recently extended invitations to skilled immigrants who wish to become permanent residents through the Express Entry program under the General Category. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted the latest round of invitations on April 23, 2024.

In this round, candidates eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program were invited to apply.

The lowest-ranked candidate in this draw received a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 529. A total of 2,095 Express Entry candidates were invited to apply, with the tie-breaking rule date set at November 8, 2023, at 17:50:29 UTC. This draw was labeled as round number 286, taking place on April 23, 2024, at 16:54:59 UTC.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are assessed based on a range of factors, including age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. The CRS assigns them a score out of a possible 1,200 points. In cases where multiple candidates have the same CRS score, the tie-breaker is determined by the date and time of their Express Entry profile submission.

The cut-off score for this draw decreased by 20 points from the previous draw on April 10, 2024, indicating a more accessible pathway for candidates. Express Entry serves as Canada's primary immigration system, streamlining the process for skilled workers, professionals, and tradespeople across various programs. The Canadian government sets immigration targets, with each Express Entry draw's CRS cut-off score influencing the selection of candidates for permanent residence invitations.

In summary, Canada continues to welcome skilled immigrants through its Express Entry program, offering a pathway to permanent residency for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria and demonstrate their ability to contribute to the country's economy and society.
