Institues Overview

Olds College has evolved from humble beginnings in 1913 as an Agriculture and Home Economics School to the premier Canadian integrated learning and applied research community specializing in agriculture, horticulture, land and environmental management. The programs that we built a century of excellence on have evolved into programs that meet the needs of today’s learner and today’s industries.

Olds College continues its advancement with the addition of new learning, research, and living spaces, through transactional partnerships with key stakeholders. These partnerships are united by the common thread of vision underpinned by a governance model that guides our innovative spirit, giving our students the best possible learning environment.

A vision that was internationally recognized In October of 2014 as the Gold standard for excellence in post-secondary governance from the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP). Students at Olds College receive education and training that ensures they are industry ready when they graduate. Our innovative program delivery methods ensure that every student can find the best learning path possible for success.

Through our Connect Your Passion initiative, every student can experience our gamified capstone course on entrepreneurship with additional programs and services offered to serve the needs of the region including adult basic education, career training, and non-credit courses, as well as cultural and recreational activities.

As the largest agricultural College in Alberta, Olds College continues to take a leadership role in advancing innovation-based rural economic development in Alberta, be it through research at the Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI) or our enterprise activities in Brewery, Meat program and Greenhouse.

We are committed to enhancing relationships with industry, community, stakeholders and alumni, in combination with our hands-on, practical learning in order to ensure our students acquire knowledge, skills and, perhaps most importantly, problem-solving aptitude as they move beyond our walls and into the workforce. It is in developing relationships with partners from industry, governments, individuals and alumni who have an affinity to what we do and how we do it, that we are able to develop facilities, programs and services that enrich our students, community and beyond. Through these unique relationships, Olds College can go beyond expectations working from a position of strength.
