Manitoba issues applications for provincial nomination candidates

Manitoba has invited 239 skilled workers to apply for its Provincial Nominee Program, offering them a chance to apply for permanent residency.

Manitoba has recently invited candidates to apply for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), offering skilled workers the opportunity to be nominated for permanent residency. The province held its 235th draw on December 27, 2024, issuing 239 Letters of Advice to Apply (LOAs) to eligible skilled workers already living in Manitoba. This marks an important step in the province's ongoing efforts to attract talent to strengthen its workforce.

The draw was open to all eligible skilled worker profiles in Manitoba, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited holding a score of 857. A separate category, the Skilled Worker in Manitoba’s Occupation-Specific Selection, also saw 18 LOAs issued, focusing on candidates with experience in key industries. The National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 unit groups considered during this draw included:

  • 31101 – Specialists in surgery
  • 31102 – General practitioners and family physicians
  • 31301 – Registered nurses and psychiatric nurses
  • 31302 – Nurse practitioners
  • 73301 – Bus drivers, subway operators, and other transit operators
  • 60030 – Restaurant and food service managers (with a cut-off score of 632)

A total of 276 LOAs were granted, providing skilled workers with a clear path to permanent residency in Manitoba. The provincial government has also pointed out why certain candidates might not have received an LOA, despite having a higher score than the lowest-ranked individual. These reasons include:

  • Missing a valid language test number in the Expression of Interest (EOI)
  • Having an expired language test
  • Failure to provide a valid invitation number for those invited through a strategic recruitment initiative

For those interested in applying, Manitoba continues to invite skilled workers to apply, aiming to fill key roles in essential sectors.

Meanwhile, British Columbia is also continuing to accept applications for its International Post-Graduate Stream, which will remain open until 9 am on January 7, 2025. British Columbia announced that it would replace its existing International Graduate and International Post-Graduate Streams with new Bachelor's, Master’s, and Doctoral streams in January 2025. These new streams will come with updated eligibility criteria, ensuring the province attracts international graduates with the skills needed to contribute to its economy.

The last Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for the International Graduate Stream were issued on November 26, 2024. International students who meet the criteria as of December 31, 2024, can still apply for the International Post-Graduate stream until the application window closes in January.

These initiatives by Manitoba and British Columbia highlight the provinces’ commitment to addressing labor shortages by welcoming skilled workers from around the world. As the new year begins, both provinces continue to offer opportunities for talented individuals to build their futures in Canada.
