Canadian Provinces Nominate New Immigrants Through PNPs (CIC News)

This week, four Canadian provinces—Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island—issued nominations for immigration candidates through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). These nominations are part of ongoing efforts to attract skilled workers to meet regional labor market needs. Here’s a detailed report on the results from July 13-19, 2024.

Ontario conducted four immigration draws under its Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) this week. On July 13th, Ontario issued 265 invitations to candidates with scores of 35 or above under the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream. The same day, Ontario held a two-part draw under the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream.

The first part issued 424 invitations to candidates with job offers in selected healthcare occupations and scores of 81 or higher. The second part issued 839 invitations to candidates with job offers in other priority occupations, requiring scores of at least 77. On July 16th, five invitations were issued to candidates eligible under the federal Economic Mobility Pathways project through the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream.

On July 18th, Ontario held a targeted draw for healthcare workers, issuing 1,240 invitations to candidates with scores between 425 and 444 under the Express Entry: Human Capital Priorities stream.

On July 16th, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) conducted five targeted draws under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, issuing a total of 68 invitations. The minimum scores for these draws were 94 for childcare workers, 95 for construction workers, 104 for healthcare workers, 122 for tech workers, and 80 for veterinary care workers.

Manitoba held two immigration draws under its Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) on July 18th. The province invited 109 candidates who met the stream's requirements under the International Education stream. On the same day, 52 candidates who were invited under a strategic recruitment initiative with scores of 645 or above received letters of advice to apply through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Of the 161 invitations issued this week, 16 went to candidates with valid Express Entry profiles and job seeker validation codes.

On July 19th, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations under two streams. A total of 84 invitations were issued to individuals in the healthcare and construction sectors, those with expiring work permits in the manufacturing and professional services sectors, and applicants in the International Graduate stream with work permits expiring by the end of 2024 under the Labour and Express Entry streams. PEI also issued two invitations under its Business streams.

This week, Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island actively invited candidates through their PNPs, targeting skilled workers in various sectors. These selections aim to address specific economic needs and support regional labor markets.
