Ontario Invites 209 General Practitioners and Family Physicians in Latest Express Entry Draw

Ontario has recently conducted a significant draw through its Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream, issuing 209 invitations aimed specifically at general practitioners and family physicians. This draw, which took place on July 25, 2024, is part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and targeted individuals with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores ranging from 395 to 444.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is a key pathway for skilled workers seeking to settle in Ontario. In this latest draw, the focus was on healthcare professionals, particularly general practitioners and family physicians. These professions were selected to address ongoing demands in the healthcare sector in Ontario.

Candidates who were chosen from the Express Entry pool received a Notification of Interest in their Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) account. This notification is an essential step in the immigration process, signalling that they are now eligible to apply for provincial nomination. Once they receive this notification, they have 45 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency.

Here's a closer look at the draw details:

  • Date of Draw: July 25, 2024
  • Number of Invitations Issued: 209
  • CRS Score Range: 395–444
  • Target Occupations: General practitioners and family physicians

To be eligible for the Ontario Express Entry: Human Capital Priorities stream, applicants must meet specific criteria. Additionally, they must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent work experience in the past five years under NOC TEER Category 0, 1, 2, or 3 if applying through FSWP, or in the past three years if applying through CEC.

Candidates must also possess educational credentials equivalent to a Canadian bachelor’s degree or higher. Language proficiency is another key requirement; applicants must demonstrate a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 in either English or French. They should also express an intention to live in Ontario and, if applicable, must have legal status in Canada. Proof of sufficient settlement funds is required, and candidates must meet the minimum CRS score as set by the OINP in its periodic draws.
