Ontario unveils 2024 Provincial Nominee Program allocation

In 2024, Ontario's Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was granted 21,500 nominations, marking an increase from 16,500 in 2023. This rise came after Canadian immigration ministers convened to evaluate the program's effects. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) distributes nominations to all provinces except Quebec and Nunavut.

During the November FMRI meeting, provinces and territories advocated for greater involvement in selecting immigrants and expanding their program capacities. Canada plans to welcome 110,000 new permanent residents through the PNP in 2024, surpassing those admitted via the federal Express Entry system. In March 2023, the FMRI approved a multi-year plan for PNP allocations, enabling provinces to prepare local infrastructure for both existing residents and newcomers. Ontario has not disclosed any notional allocations for the next two years.

On April 3, British Columbia conducted four draws for the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), inviting a total of 83 candidates. The largest draw encompassed various categories and required a minimum score of 130 for Skilled Workers, Skilled Workers (EEBC option), and International Graduates.

Alberta's Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) recently invited 48 candidates from the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta job offers, aligned with Express Entry requirements, necessitating a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 or higher. This marks the eighth draw for this category in the current year.

Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 66 invitations on April 4 to Labour and Express Entry candidates employed in healthcare, manufacturing, and early childhood education sectors. This draw marks the first of the month for PEI PNP and the sixth this year.
