New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) - Express Entry Stream

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) offers an Express Entry Stream, which provides a pathway for skilled foreign workers to obtain permanent residency in the province through the federal Express Entry immigration system. This stream allows New Brunswick to address its specific labor market needs and demographic goals by nominating candidates who meet the province's criteria.

How it Works

The Express Entry Stream operates under an ‘Expression of Interest’ model, where candidates first create an online profile in the federal Express Entry pool. This pool manages applications for three main federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of one of these programs are accepted into the Express Entry pool and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on factors like age, education, language ability, and work experience. The highest-scoring candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for nomination through the NBPNP Express Entry Stream, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal pool.
  2. Possess either a Job Seeker Validation Code or proof of enrollment in a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligible program at a federally designated post-secondary institution in New Brunswick.
  3. Be currently residing in the province of New Brunswick.
  4. Provide valid language test results demonstrating proficiency in either English or French at a minimum level of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or higher.

Application Process

The application process for the Express Entry Stream involves the following steps:

  1. Interested candidates must first create an Express Entry profile and meet the eligibility criteria for one of the federal economic immigration programs.
  2. Once in the Express Entry pool, candidates can submit an Expression of Interest to the NBPNP, indicating their desire to be considered for nomination by the province.
  3. The NBPNP will assess the candidate’s profile based on their Express Entry CRS score, language proficiency, education, work experience, and other factors that align with the province’s labor market needs.
  4. If selected, the candidate will receive a nomination certificate from the province of New Brunswick.
  5. With the provincial nomination, the candidate will receive an additional 600 points added to their Express Entry CRS score, effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
  6. After receiving an ITA, the candidate must submit the remaining documents for federal permanent residence processing within the specified timeframe.

It’s important to note that the NBPNP Express Entry Stream is highly competitive, and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee nomination. The program evaluates candidates based on various factors, including their potential to contribute to the province’s economic and social development, as well as their ability to successfully integrate into the local community.

Successful applicants through this stream can enjoy the benefits of permanent residency in New Brunswick, including the ability to live and work in the province indefinitely, access to social services, and the potential for Canadian citizenship after meeting the residency requirements.

The Express Entry Stream provides a valuable opportunity for skilled foreign workers to pursue their immigration goals while contributing to the growth and prosperity of New Brunswick.
