Prince Edward Island (PEI), nestled in the eastern part of Canada, offers a promising pathway to Canadian permanent residence for international graduates through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The PEI International Graduate stream aims to attract skilled individuals who have studied and worked in the province, contributing to its vibrant economy and diverse communities.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the PEI International Graduate stream, candidates must fulfill several key requirements:

  1. Study Experience: Graduated from a minimum two-year program at a publicly-funded post-secondary institution in PEI.
  2. Job Offer: Secured a full-time, permanent job offer from a PEI employer in a position classified as National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, or B.
  3. Language Proficiency: While there’s no minimum language requirement, candidates should have adequate English or French proficiency for effective communication.
  4. Level of Education: Completion of a minimum two-year post-secondary program in PEI.
  5. Work Experience: Accumulated at least six months of work experience in PEI, directly related to their PEI post-secondary education.
  6. Age: Candidates must be aged between 18 and 59 years old.
  7. Settlement Funds: Meet the settlement funds requirement determined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Intention to Reside: Demonstrate a genuine intention to reside in PEI.

    Application Process

    The application process for the PEI International Graduate stream follows an Expression of Interest (EOI) system:

    1. Submission of Profile: Eligible candidates submit their profiles to PEI’s pool of candidates.
    2. Ranking: Profiles are ranked based on the PEI Labour Impact Category Ranking System, with the highest-ranking candidates receiving invitations to apply.
    3. Application Submission: Invited candidates submit a complete application during one of the stream’s periodic draws.
    4. Provincial Nomination: Successful candidates receive a provincial nomination from PEI, which is valid for six months.
    5. Federal Application: Within the given timeframe, candidates must submit a federal application for Canadian permanent residence. This involves completing and mailing a paper-based application to the appropriate center.
    6. Processing Time: Paper-based PNP applications for permanent residence are typically processed within 18 months.
