  • A minimum net worth of CAD 500,000 is required, unless applying through the Young Farmer Stream, in which case the minimum net worth is CAD 300,000.
  • The accumulated net worth must be attained through legal means, verified to at least 80 percent.

Additional Requirements for Each Sub-Category

  1. Entrepreneur Sub-Category:
    • Possess a minimum of three years of entrepreneurial experience within the past 10 years.
    • Demonstrate a minimum equity investment of CAD 300,000 in Regina or Saskatoon, or CAD 200,000 in another Saskatchewan community.
    • Develop a comprehensive Business Establishment Plan (BEP).
    • Maintain ownership of at least one-third of the equity of a business in Saskatchewan, unless the total investment amounts to CAD 1,000,000 or higher.
    • Create or sustain at least two jobs for Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents in Saskatchewan, with additional requirements for businesses located in Regina or Saskatoon.
    • If purchasing a business in Saskatoon or Regina, ensure the retention of the number of Canadian or permanent resident workers at the time of purchase.
    • Reside in Saskatchewan with immediate family members.
    • Enter into a business performance agreement with the Government of Saskatchewan, facilitated by the SINP post-application approval.
    • Fulfill any additional requirements set forth for the business.
  1. Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category:
    • Possess relevant knowledge and experience in farm operations.

Application Process

Applicants interested in either the Entrepreneur or Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category are required to submit their applications along with a CAD 2,500 fee. The processing time for these applications is estimated at 14 weeks, during which thorough assessments are conducted to ensure suitability and compliance with the specified criteria. Successful applicants will receive the necessary approvals to proceed with their entrepreneurial or farming endeavors in Saskatchewan.

  1. Entrepreneur Sub-Category:
    • Register an Expression of Interest with the SINP to receive a point score.
    • Selected candidates will be invited to submit a formal application through the SINP Apply Online system.
    • Upon assessment, applicants may undergo a final interview and subsequently receive a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) for review and signing.
    • After submitting the BPA, applicants receive SINP Entrepreneur Approval and Temporary Work Permit Support letters.
    • Obtain a temporary work permit within three months, relocate to Saskatchewan, and establish the business within 18 months of the SINP Entrepreneur Approval letter date.
    • Attend an arrival meeting within the stipulated timeframe.
    • Fulfill obligations outlined in the Business Performance Agreement for a minimum of six months before requesting provincial nomination for permanent residence.
  1. Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category:
    • Ensure all required documents are prepared, including information on spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and current farm operation employees.
    • Submit the application via email to saskentrepreneur@gov.sk.ca.
    • Respond to any requests for clarification, additional documents, or interviews from the SINP.
    • Upon successful application, receive Nomination Approval, Request for Approval Letter, and Business Performance Agreement (BPA).
    • Remit the refundable CAD $75,000 Good Faith Deposit within three months.
    • Sign and return the BPA to receive provincial nomination.
    • Apply for permanent residence directly with IRCC with the obtained nomination.
