September’s first CEC-Express Entry draw invites 4,000 PR applicants.

The first Express Entry draw for the Canadian Experience Class in September issued 4,000 invitations for permanent residency.

Today marked the first Express Entry draw of September for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), issuing 4,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. This draw specifically targeted candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 509 or higher, reflecting a slight increase of two points from the last CEC draw.

So far in 2024, this is the sixth Express Entry draw focused exclusively on CEC candidates, bringing the total number of profiles invited this year to 24,800. Notably, this latest cutoff score is 13 points lower than the first CEC draw held in May 2024.

The resumption of CEC draws aligns with immigration minister Marc Miller's strategy to manage the population of temporary residents in Canada by transitioning them to permanent residency.

If you didn’t reach the required CRS score this time, don’t lose hope. There are effective ways to enhance your score for future draws:

  1. Boost Language Scores: Improving your English or French proficiency through tests like IELTS or CELPIP can make a significant difference.
  2. Further Education: If you've earned a new degree or certification, update your profile to gain more points.
  3. Gain Work Experience: Additional years of work experience, especially in high-demand fields, can increase your score.
  4. Provincial Nomination: A nomination from a province can add 600 points, greatly improving your chances of receiving an ITA.
  5. Valid Job Offer: A job offer from a Canadian employer can add up to 200 points to your score.
  6. Consider Spousal Factors: If your spouse has strong language or education credentials, include these to claim additional points.

By taking these proactive steps, you can significantly enhance your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada in future Express Entry draws.
